Using the Lensbaby Plastic Optic

The Lensbaby Plastic Optic is one of the best optics available for creating photos that contain a lot of chromatic aberration. The Lensbaby Plastic Optic features a focal length of 55 mm and an uncoated double convex plastic singlet. The Lensbaby Plastic Optic is the softest optic that Lensbaby makes. The Lensbaby Plastic Optic is a member of the Lensbaby Optic Swap System.

Inserting the Lensbaby Plastic Optic into your Lens

The Lensbaby Plastic Optic is compatible with the Lensbaby Control Freak, the Lensbaby Muse and the Lensbaby Composer. When you unpacked your Lensbaby Plastic Optic, you should have found an Optic Swap Tool in the packaging, as well. The Optic Swap Tool will need to be used to remove the optic that you currently have in your Lensbaby lens. When the current optic is removed, simply drop the Lensbaby Plastic Optic into your Lensbaby lens and the installation will be complete.

Changing the Aperture

You can begin using the Lensbaby Plastic Optic as soon as it is installed. However, you do have the option of changing the aperture for the Lensbaby Plastic Optic if you would like to. To do this, you will need the Magnetic Aperture Removal Tool. To change the aperture of your Lensbaby Plastic Optic by using the Magnetic Aperture Removal Tool, simply touch the tool to the tip of the current aperture disc that you have inserted in your Lensbaby Plastic Optic. You will then be able to remove that aperture disc and insert a new aperture disc into your Lensbaby Plastic Optic.
