Placing a Print in a Flatbed Photo Scanner
Many people do not realize that there are very specific ways to adjust your print when placing it in a flatbed photo scanner. Follow the guidelines listed below to create proper image scans.
Tools and Materials Needed
- Photo Scanner
Place Print in Correct Position
The first thing you will want to make sure of is that you place your print in the proper position on the scanner. In most models, this will mean placing the print face down in the upper right-hand corner of the scanner bed. Read your owner's manual or experiment with your scanner to make sure that this is the case with your scanner.
Do Not Touch Glass with Your Fingers
One thing to make sure of is that you do not touch the glass surface of the scanner bed with your fingers. Oil and dirt on your fingers can smudge the glass surface of your scanner and can result in reduced image quality. Additionally, scanners can be particularly difficult to clean once dirty.
Do Not Slide Prints across Glass
Similar to the above tip, try to avoid sliding your print along the glass surface of your scanner bed. This can result in ink rubbing off or smudging the scanner bed glass, which can be difficult to clean.
