Using a Contax/Yashica to Pentax 42mm Lens Adapter

If you have a vintage contax/yashica SLR camera then finding lenses for it can be difficult. It is often slightly easier to track down adapters that can accommodate different types of lenses which might be easier to track down. One of the easiest types of lenses to use with this camera is the Pentax 42mm Lenses.

These lenses are manual focus and work well with the adapters. If you are using adapters with your camera then you will need to spend some time learning exactly how to use them without damaging the lens, the adapter or the camera body.

Step 1: Preparing the Lens

Unscrew the lens cover from the back of the lens and make sure that there is no dirt or dust anywhere on the lens glass.

Step 2: Mounting the Lens

Screw the lens onto the lens adapter until it clicks into place. When it is clicked in position this means that it has locked onto the adapter and cannot be removed without first unlocking it.

Step 3: Fitting the Lens

Once the lens is fixed onto the adapter it can then be screwed into the mount in your camera. It fits in exactly the same way as a standard lens for your camera.

Step 4: Removing the Lens

When you want to remove the lens from your camera simply twist it as normal to pull the lens and adapter away from your camera. When it's removed you can then disconnect the adapter by pressing the release button and twisting.
