How to Transfer Pictures to Your Computer
Transferring pictures from your digital camera to your computer is a great way to share your pictures with your friends and family. First you need to get your pictures from your digital camera to your computer. If your digital camera came with software to do so, then that should be your first choice. Insert the disc and follow the directions that it prompts you to do. The manual will also give you step by step directions on how to transfer your pictures, but not every camera comes with software. If you do not have an instruction book or the software, here are simple steps to transfer pictures from your digital camera to your computer without any software.

Tools and Materials:
- Your completely charged digital camera
- A USB cable for your camera
- A USB port on your computer
Step 1: Connecting your Digital Camera to your Computer
Turn on your computer by pressing the power button. Once everything is loaded, connect your digital camera to your computer. In order to do this, take your USB cable and plug one end into your camera and the other end into the USB port on your computer. Once your digital camera is connected to your computer through the USB port, you will need to turn on your digital camera.
Step 2: Locating the Pictures from your Camera on your Computer
Once your camera is connected to your computer, locate your pictures from your camera on your computer. In order to do this, go the "my computer" icon on your computer. Double click it and then find your drive from your digital camera in it. It will be listed as the name of your camera. Double click the drive for your digital camera and it should bring you to the folders inside your camera. Click on the folder that says images, or navigate through folders until you find the "images" folder.
Step 3: Transferring the Pictures from your Digital Camera to your Computer
Once you have located the pictures from your digital camera on your computer, it is time to transfer them. There are multiple methods for transferring your pictures. One of them is to drag your "images" folder from your digital camera drive onto your desktop. Another is to individually drag your photos from the "images" folder onto your desktop. These methods erase them from your camera and put them on your desktop. The other methods are to right click you "images" folder and click the "copy to" option. Select where you want your images copied. This method will keep your pictures on your camera while still moving them to your computer. You may do the same with individual images.
