4 Types of HD Camcorders
HD camcorders are some of the most in-demand video recorders on the market today. Not only are they easy to carry and operate, they can record high-definition videos and take high-fidelity images as well. Here are some of the types of HD camcorders you can choose from:
1. Resolution 1280 x 720
This is still considered HD as it has more pixels than standard definition though not the maximum HD resolution. These types of HD camcorders are usually the budget or consumer mini and handheld camcorders. The Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2, the Compact High Definition 1280 x 720 and the JVC GR-HD1 fall under this category.
2. Resolution 1920 x 1080
This kind of HD recorder carries the highest pixel count in HD technology to date. These are highly recommended for power users, indie filmmakers and business documentations. Examples for this kind of HD camcorders are Canon’s HV10, JVC’s GZ-HD6 and Sanyo’s DMX-HD1000.
3. AVCHD Compression
A recording format based category for HD camcorders, the ACCHSD is the most used compression format for popular brands such as JVC, Canon and Panasonic.
4. MPEG-4 Compression
Used by Samsung and Sanyo camcorders along with other compact HD brands, this format is very similar with the AVCHD but is leaner when it comes to data integrity. It’s also easier to capture video with this camera than with AVCHD.
