Photography Tips: Making Cars Look Shiny
Follow these photography tips to make a car look new, shiny and its best in any picture. Use these steps whenever you photograph a vehicle, whether for a professional print ad or when you are trying to sell your car online.
Tools and Materials You Will Need
- Your camera and camera equipment
- Car wax and buffer
- Back-drop (optional)
Step 1 - Give Your Car a Bath
Before you begin snapping photos, give your car a good clean. Run it through a hand car wash, and make sure they get in the crevices and spend ample time working on the wheels and spokes or hubcaps. Have the car fully dried.
Step 2 - Buff the Car
Add car wax buffer to the car. A car wax buffer can really add to the cars look when you take pictures of it. Be sure to read through the instructions on how to properly wax and buff the car. Make sure you do not leave any noticable streaks or they will show up in the photos you take later.
Step 3 - Choose a Great Setting
Hunt for a location that will help make your car jump right out of the picture that you take. You need to find something where the car's surface will not blend in, but rather pop right out of the photo. For example, if you intend to take a picture of a red sports car, you will want to take it to an area that is filled with green grass, green shrubs and green leafy trees. Contrasts in the background as compared to the car are very important for making your car look fantastic and shiny.
Step 4 - Capture the Sun
Use the sun as your guide. Take your photographs during a really nice and sunny day. Make sure that you take pictures of the car at many different angles and distances. Allow the sun to bounce off the paint of the car and capture that glean and glimmer. Do not be afraid to overshoot during this process.
Step 5 - Use the Wide Angle Lens
A wide angle lens for this application is perfect. Frame your car and zoom in using the wide angle lens. The lens actually makes the car appear bigger, wider and shinier than normal.
Step 6 - Take Different Angles
Do not be tempted to take all your photos at eye level. Instead, snap from different areas and angles. Show the wheels, the rims and the top of the car from varied perspectives.
Step 7 - Turn on the Headlights
The headlights add a little more shimmer and glimmer to the car. It will help to make for a nice shiny appearance.
Step 8 - Touch Up the Photo
Once you have taken the picture, open up your photo editing software and give the car a new paint job. Photo editing software really gives you the photographer the ability to do almost anything when it comes to updating and tweaking photos.Popular Cameras for High Quality Photos:
