Making Great Fine Art Photography Prints

State of the art photo printers make it easy to produce fine art photography prints at home. If you want to create these prints, then you will need to ensure you have the right materials on hand. You will also need a large format photo printer if you plan on making prints which are larger than an A4 sheet of paper.

Step 1: Choosing a Printer

The first thing that you will need to do is choose a printer. There are many different types of printers which are available to create high quality photo prints. The most common is an inkjet photo printer. These printers are capable of printing on a wide range of different materials including regular copier paper, photographic paper and canvases.

When you are interested in printing high quality art photography, you will want to use glossy photo paper and canvases. You could also consider using color lasers. These use small pieces of plastic which are melted onto the paper rather than using a ink. The advantage of these is that they can print high quality photos onto copier paper without it soaking in. However, laser printers cannot normally print on many different types of mediums including labels and canvases.

If you are interested in printing large format pictures, then you will need to chose a suitable printer. Most home printers are designed to print up to a maximum of A4. It is fairly easy to find printers which can print up to A3 sized paper. However, if you want larger printers, then these will be specialist items which can be difficult to find.

Step 2: Choosing Material

The next thing that you need to do is choose a material that you want to print on. Most people will probably be using photo quality glossy paper. This is a paper with a glossy surface to prevent the ink from soaking in. You might also consider using photo quality canvas paper. This is like an artist's canvas and is coated with a material which makes it possible to print on it with a regular ink jet printer.

Step 3: Printing

When you have chosen the printer and the paper that you want to use, you will then need to install and set the printer up. With the printer set up correctly, you will then need to start printing. Make sure that the printer is set into the highest quality mode possible. This will ensure that nothing is lost when capturing the image. This can be done through the driver options of your printer.

When loading paper, you will need to ensure that you have the printable side of the paper positioned in the correct position. This will ensure that the printer will print on the paper correctly.

Step 4: Drying

The most important thing that you should do is wait before doing anything with the photo. The photo is made up of ink which needs to dry completely. Touching the photo too early could result in unsightly smudges and smears.

Printing high quality photographs is very easy when you are using a regular computer with a photo quality printer. Just take your time and it should be no problem.
