3 Tips for Starting a Fashion Photography Career
A fashion photography career has an allure all of its own. When dreaming of turning your photography hobby into a full time career, there are many aspects to consider. If you want to reach the top of the industry, it is a high powered job. Good equipment, the right breaks and the people you know will all factor into your success. You can’t just go out there and proclaim that you are a fashion photographer.
1. Learn Your Trade
You need to find a good photographer already in the business and request an internship, or apply for an assistant position. This way you will learn the dos and don’ts of the industry without making mistakes that could ruin your chances for a successful career later. A really good photographer will have “go-for” (go for this and go for that).
2. Purchase the Right Equipment
Once you are in the position of being able to purchase items of equipment for yourself, make sure you buy the best you can afford. You are building the base of your business. You will need high quality cameras, not the inexpensive point and shoot variety. You will need specialized lenses. You will need lighting. All of these items will be necessary at some time.
3. Take Classes at a Good Photographic School
By attending a photographic school, you will receive basic knowledge and learn the necessary skills. Classes also provide you with models that you can practice on for your fashion photography career.
