The FinePix 40i is housed in a highly durable metallic silver or blue metal body that
fits easily into your pocket or purse. When the camera is not in use the lens is
protected by a builtin metal lens cover. The 40i is also a very
fast camera, it processes and stores even the largest images as fast as you can press
the shutter button.
![]() The FinePix 40i is true multimedia device and functions as both a digital camera and an audio player for MP3 files. Shown here with the included remote control and ear buds. You can use other third-party headphones that have stereo mini-plugs. The audio remote control has volume up/down, rewind, fast forward, play, pause and stop buttons as well as an LCD info display that shows the battery condition, track #, volume info, audio mode and playback indicator. The audio system has a 2-level bass boost circuit and playback can be set for normal, repeat all or repeat track.
The remote also serves as a camera control. In still image mode
it can trip the shutter and operate the digital zoom. In playback mode it can control
the slideshow functions. It can not be used in movie mode.

The 1.8-inch color LCD monitor has 110,000 pixels of resolution and can be used for
preview or review purposes. It is also used to change the camera and exposure settings
via the onscreen menu system. The 40i also has a small eyelevel optical viewfinder so
you can take pictures without using the the color LCD.

two buttons and an up/down switch for navigating menus, controlling the digital zoom
and picture review. The DISP button turns the color LCD on and off and controls the
onscreen data overlays. The BACK and MENU/OK buttons are also used for operating the
camera's menu system.

The I/O ports include a high-speed USB for download or upload. Software is included that
lets the computer "see" the camera as a USB Mass Storage Device for easy upload or
download of images or song files. The A/V Out port lets you connect the camera to a
TV set and has adjustable NTSC or PAL format. The Remote jack is for the included
remote control for playback of MP3 song files and remote control of some camera functions.
The DC IN jack is for the optional AC power adapter.

On the bottom of the camera is the combination battery and SmartMedia card compartment.
Included with the camera is a set of two high-capacity NiMH rehargeable batteries and
and a wall charger. Any capacity 3.3v SmartMedia card may be used, a 16MB (8MB in
