C-Guys Introduces Ultra High Speed SD Memory Cards and High Speed USB 2.0 Adapter
San Jose, CA – November 30, 2004 – C-guys, Inc., a global leader in the design and
development of SD and SDIO solutions for home, SOHO and SMB applications today announced
its 20MB/s SD memory cards. The cards are available in storage capacities of 1GB (CG-SDM01G01)
and 512MB (CG-SDM51201) and are designed to increase data transfer speeds for
SD-friendly devices such as digital cameras, PDAs, mobile phones and other portable
electronics devices.
When coupled with the C-guys SD-USBean card reader, users can quickly convert media stored
on a mobile device such as a digital camera or smart phone to the industry standard USB
and download or upload content to a PC or printer. The SD-USBean is one of the only
high-speed media reader / writer solutions on the market. Other readers only support up to
10MB/s, which can cause a serious bottleneck and degrade performance. The SD-USBean is
twice as fast and allows for increased data transfer speeds. The product is a true plug
and play device and no installation drivers are required. The product supports USB 2.0 and
is compatible with Windows, Macintosh and Linux.
Backed by a lifetime, limited warranty, the 20MB/s Ultra High Speed SD Memory cards will
be available in December at MSRPs of $200 for the 1GB (CG-SDM01G01) and $100 for the 512MB
(CG-SDM51201). The SD-USBean will also be available in December at an MSRP of $25. For
more information on C-guys and its products, please visit the
C-guys web site.

New Camera Reviews Just Posted
We've only had it for a short while but so far I am very impressed with Pentax's new
*ist DS SLR, the latest entry into the
under-$1000 category of 6-megapixel digital SLRs. For around $999 you get the camera and a nice
18-55mm zoom lens. It uses SD memory cards and runs on either four AA or two CR-V3
batteries. The *ist DS is currently the smallest and lightest interchangeable lens
digital camera available and produces sharp and well-saturated images.
I've posted the first set of sample images, the conclusion will follow in about a week
with more sample photos. I see the *ist DS as a solid contender against Canon's Digital
Rebel and Nikon's D70 and expect it to sell extremely well this holiday season.
Also posted are full reviews of the Pentax Optio
SV, a compact yet full-featured 5-megapixel, 5x optical zoom camera that comes with a
handy charging stand. And the Pentax Optio MX4,
the 4-megapixel update to last year's Optio MX, a hybrid digital still and movie camera
with a 10x optical zoom lens. Check them out.

SanDisk Receives DIWA Innovation Award for Extreme III
Amsterdam, 26. November 2004:
DIWA (Digital Imaging Websites Association), a world-wide
organisation of collaborating websites, today has the pleasure of announcing that the DIWA
Innovation Award is granted to the new Extreme III series of SanDisk flash memory cards.
The Extreme III cards use the newly developed ESP (Enhanced Super-Parallel Processing)
technology. This is a groundbreaking development that provides the world’s highest read
and write speeds up to a minimum of 20 megabytes per second (MB/sec.). High-end
photographers are in constant search for fast storage products and SanDisk Extreme III is
designed to fulfil this need. Beside significantly improved speed, the new cards also
feature extended operating temperature range, enabling them to work under virtually any
condition.
The ESP technology combines NAND Flash memory chips and 32-bit RISC processing controller
chips. The new ESP has super-parallel write and read operations that are coupled with
accelerated flash data bus architecture, allowing twice the transfer speed of an average
card on today's market. Thanks to this new technology, the flash card will no longer be
the bottleneck during data storage, which was often the case in the past.
The DIWA organization recognises the importance of this new technology and is therefore
pleased to honour SanDisk's Extreme III product line with the DIWA Innovation Award.

PhotoCleaner - Digital Photo Enhancement for Everyone
Digital Dozen, LLC, has released version 3 of PhotoCleaner, a Windows program
that makes quick and easy digital photo enhancement available for everyone.
To achieve professionally looking results, digital photographers have to go
through typical image enhancement steps: correcting colors and brightness,
removing noise, fixing red eyes, resizing, sharpening, adding frame and title,
and so on. Taking these steps one at a time requires a lot of time, image
processing skills, and expensive image editing software.
PhotoCleaner automates the entire process that becomes as easy as "load the
picture and click the button". If you need more control, you can change the
enhancement settings to match your camera and preferences or turn some of the
enhancement functions on and off. To save your time, PhotoCleaner Pro goes one
step further - it allows selecting multiple pictures and enhancing them in a
batch. PhotoCleaner is very easy to use and requires practically no learning
time.
PhotoCleaner Pro single-user license costs $24.95 (US); the Basic version,
without the ability to process multiple pictures in one step, is available for
$12.95 (US). The cost includes one year of free upgrades. PhotoCleaner runs on
Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP and is available in
English and German. To order or get more information, please
visit www.photocleaner.com. Free,
fully-functional 30-day trial versions are available for download.
