The TWAIN module was designed basically as a way to download image data from the
camera using the RS-232 serial port. It can also be used as a TWAIN acquire module
to load the Canon RAW format image files that you already have on your hard drive.

The RAW file parameters can be left "AsShot" or you can change them on the fly which
is really handy if you shot using the wrong white balance setting or you want to boost
or decrease the contrast, sharpness or saturation.
The real advantage to Canon's RAW
file format versus other camera's TIFF images is that it is the raw image data from
the CCD and can be just as easily manipulated later in software as it is in-camera
when producing JPEGs.

The Remote Capture program for Windows 98/2000 allows you to operate the D30 camera while
tethered to a computer via the USB port. It gives you
the ability to change the most-used camera settings such as the zoom, flash, macro mode,
white balance, exposure compensation and the size and quality of the image.
It does not give you a "live" preview though, you need to snap a test shot to see what
the camera sees, but it only takes a second over the USB port to acquire either the test
shot or the full size final image.

The Remote Capture program is capable of interval and timer recording as well as
instantaneous. These two screens shows the parameters that you can set in these two
modes. The manual or the application's Help file do not specify what the limits of
these parameters are so I guess "999" is assumed?

Needless to say that it would be a good idea to have you camera powered directly off
of the AC adapter if using the timer or interval functions.
