Canon EOS D30

Software: ZoomBrowser

Zoom Browser

Canon EOS D30

When you first connect the D30 to your computer's USB port it will automatically bring up this download screen. It will show you thumbnail views of all the images stored on the camera, you can selectively download the ones you want or download them all.

Once your images have been downloaded to the computer they will be "passed" to the ZoomBrowser application as shown in the next frame.

(Note that we now have another alternative to read and manipulate the D30's .CRW raw files, see the Bibble information in my Conclusion text.)

Canon EOS D30

Canon's Zoom Browser is like a graphical Explorer and allows you to view, database and convert the D30's JPEG and RAW format files. It also acts as a front-end for the Remote Capture program described later on.

The output options for the Zoom Browser include Flashpix, JPEG, TIFF and BMP.

You can also specifiy the file's final dimensions and resolution.

The Camera Properties screen will read all of the embedded Exif header data contained in the image files. Everything from camera settings to exposure information.

The Camera Settings options let you give your camera a name, handy for identification purposes if stolen. You can also set the time and date or sync it with your PC's clock, format the CF card or create and modify custom parameters (see next frame).

Canon EOS D30

The Parameter Settings submenu lets you create or modify up to three sets of custom image adjustments that are downloaded to the camera and can be called up while in the field with the D30's menu.

You can use any one or all three of the items; Contrast (Low, Normal, High), Sharpness (Low, Normal, High) or Color Saturation (Low, Normal, High). Just set the slider values accordingly and hit the "Apply to camera" button to store them.
