![]() The Agfa ePhoto CL30 digital camera is an entry level megapixel digital camera that is available in two versions. The CL30 we reviewed here is the standard version that uses CompactFlash memory cards. Agfa also makes another version called the CL30 Clik! that uses the new 40MB Clik! disks as it storage medium. Both cameras offer a USB (Universal Serial Bus) interface and a maximum resolution of 1440 x 1080 pixels using Agfa's PhotoGenie image enhancement (interpolation) technology. The non-interpolated High mode delivers 1152 x 864 sized images. The user can also select 1024 x 768, 640 x 480 or a special b/w Text mode 1152 x 864.

The user controls are very minimal. On the left of the LCD is the EasyPilot
wheel that is used to navigate the menus by rolling it up or down and then
selecting options by pressing it inward. You also activate the menu system
by pressing it inward. On the right at the top is the mode switch
to turn the camera on in either the Record or Play mode. The switch below
that controls the LCD display or puts the camera in the Connect to PC mode.
![]()
On the top the only thing you'll find is the shutter button.
![]()
And the only thing on the bottom is a plastic tripod socket.

The I/O ports are clearly marked on the inside of the plastic door. On the top
is the USB port. Next is the Video Out port that is switchable between NTSC
and PAL format. Below that is the slow RS-232 serial I/O port and on the
bottom we have the DC input port for the optional AC power adapter.
![]()
Next to the I/O ports you will find the CompactFlash Type I card slot. The card
slot has no ejector mechanism so Agfa has included an extractor tool attached to
the CL30's wrist strap to facilitate removing the CF card.

The CL30 is powered by four AA-size batteries, alkaline, NiMH, NiCd or lithium
type may be used.

Here's a closeup of the LCD display with the menu turned on. More on this on
the next page. You can also see the data LCD display above the color LCD.
It gives you the status of the camera but all options must be changed using
the menu on the color LCD.
