Toshiba PDR-T10 Review

Features & Controls![]() The Toshiba PDR-T10 is equipped with an all-glass auto focus lens, f=5.96mm (35mm equivalent 38mm), F3.1-8.0. The focusing range in normal mode is about 40cm to infinity and in Macro mode from about 20cm - infinity. In record mode there is a 2x or 4x digital zoom accessed by pressing the magnifying glass icon to the right of the image.
There is no lens cap, the lens is recessed back into the body and covered by a
protective filter.

The built-in flash automatically powers up when the camera is powered on - needed or not. It
has a recycle time of about 3 seconds (on full battery charge) and a working range from about
16 in.(40cm) to about 6.6 ft.(2.0 meters). User selectable modes are auto flash, auto red-eye
reduction, forced flash, no flash, red-eye reduction forced flash and slow-sync.
![]()
It has no need for standard control buttons (other than power and shutter release) because
the PDR-T10 uses its LCD as a touch-screen menu for operation of all camera functions.
![]()
There is also no optical viewfinder and the 1.6-inch 61,380 pixel polysilicon TFT color LCD is
used for seeing what you are about to capture, reviewing images and setting menu options. Touch
screen controls in the black area over the image and to the right are ; Menu access (Setup,
Play, Record), toggling info displays over the image, zoom control and the toggle switch for
play / record modes.

On top are the only traditional "buttons" on the camera;

On the side are the USB 1.1 and DC IN ports. The optional AC power supply plugs into the DC IN
port. Since the camera has no movie mode there is no video out connector though it would be
handy for displaying an on-location slide show on any TV.

Images are stored on tiny SD (Secure Digital) and not the similar MMC (MultiMedia) cards.
These cards are barely larger than a postage stamp! Toshiba supplies an 8MB card with the
camera.
![]() The camera is powered by a CRV-3 lithium pack (disposable), also 2 AA- sized batteries. A CRV-3 battery is supplied but I highly recommend the use of high-capacity NiMH rechargeables which are more environmentally friendly and considerably more robust. |
