Record Screens & Menus

Intelligent Auto is a fully automatic shooting mode that allows the user to just point-n-shoot and not worry about the camera settings. The camera will also pick the best scene mode for your current situation, if one is relevant.

Superior Auto takes the camera's control to the next level. This mode has also been set to make sure that your images a sharp and crisp every time. It utilizes multiple exposure technology to capture several frames when you press the shutter release, then it will combine them into a single photo that's sharper, and shows less noise when in lower light. It will also use the Backlight HDR mode when the background is brighter than the subject.

Program is the simplest of the automatic shooting modes, where the camera only handles the exposure settings and nothing else. Everything else is up to the photographer, giving them a great deal more control than the modes listed above. Pressing the DISP button on the back of the camera allows you to change the amount of information that the camera will show on the LCD screen.

The NEX-3N also features Manual, Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority as well. These modes allow more experienced photographers to take total control over the camera. Changing camera settings is a little more difficult than you would find on a dSLR as there is only one command dial, but other than that, the camera will work in the same way.

If you know that you need a specific scene mode and don't want to rely on the camera, Scene mode is available so you can set a mode to shoot with: Portrait, Landscape, Macro, Sports Action, Sunset, Night Portrait, Night Scene, Hand-held Twilight and Anti Motion Blur.

Sweep Panorama is Sony's automatic panoramic shooting mode. With this mode, the only thing you need to do to capture seamless panoramic images is to press the shutter release and then pan the camera in the direction of the arrow on the screen. Once you have done this, the camera will take care of the rest, stitching it in the camera for you, no need to spend any time on a computer.
