Playback Screens & Menus

Pressing the playback button on the top of the camera takes you to playback mode where you can see all of the images that you have captured that are saved on the camera's memory. The DISP button lets you change the amount of information that is shown about the image, including a full color histogram.

Using the zoom control coupled around the shutter release, you can press to the wide end to enter the camera into index mode. Here you can see thumbs of all the images saved on the memory card. This is a quick way to search your images to find a particular one. Here you can also choose between still images, MP4 movies and AVCHD movies.

Pressing the Tele zoom lever or the center of the 4-way controller lets you zoom in on any image on the memory card. Once you have zoomed in, you can use the 4-way controller to scroll around the image. This is a great way to check the focus of your image without a computer.

Play menu options:
  • Delete - Remove files from the memory card
  • Still/Movie Select - Choose an image or video for playback
  • Slide Show - Start an automated slide show
  • Specify Printing - Sets images for DPOF printing
  • Image Index - Enter the Index playback function
  • Enlarge Image - Magnify an image for critical inspection
  • Rotate - Rotate the orientation of an image
  • Protect - Protect files from deletion
  • Volume Settings - Adjust the volume settings of playback
  • Display Contents - Control the amount of information on the LCD

One of the only editing features on the camera is the rotate feature. This allows you to change the orientation of an image by 90° at a time.

Your home movies can easily be viewed on the camera's 3.0-inch LCD screen in playback mode. The camera gives you the ability to play the movie back frame-by-frame, but there are not editing features. With an optional HDMI cable, the movies can also be played back on any HDTV.
