To make sure that the W350 is easy enough for anyone in the family to use, it's "Easy Mode" does everything for you, simplifying even the camera's iAuto mode. Here you will see larger fonts and logos that display only the most important information, so that no one gets confused.

Intelligent Auto mode takes all of the guess work out of shooting with this camera. Unlike a traditional auto mode, this mode will automatically choose the correct scene mode for the current shooting situation. You also have a few options at your disposal, including image size, burst, face detection and smile capture settings.

iAuto FUNC. Menu:

  • Shooting Mode - iAuto, Program, Scene
  • Easy -Easy shooting mode
  • Image Size - 14M, 10M, 5M, VGA, 11M (16:9), 2M (16:9)
  • Burst Settings - Single, Burst
  • Exposure Value - -2.0 to +2.0
  • iSCN - iSCN, iSCN+
  • Smile Detection Sensitivity - Big Smile, Normal Smile, Slight Smile
  • Face Detection - Off, Auto, Child Priority, Adult, Priority
  • Menu- Enter the change shooting settings, Main Settings, Memory Card Tool, Clock Settings

Program mode gives you the most control that the camera allows. It is still an automatic mode in the sense that it will automatically set the shutter speed and aperture, but they will be based on the other settings that you choose. Here you get control of the ISO, White Balance, Focus and metering on top of the other options.

  • DRO - Off, Standard, Plus
  • Menu- Enter the change shooting settings, Main Settings, Memory Card Tool, Clock Settings

The camera's 4-way controller acts as 4 separate shortcut buttons for the Display brightness (up), Flash settings (right), Self-Timer (down) and Smile Capture (right).

If the iAuto mode isn't able to find the appropriate scene mode, you can select one in the SCN shooting mode: High Sensitivity, Soft Snap, Landscape, Twilight Portrait, Twilight, Gourmet, Pet, Beach, Snow and Underwater.

Sony's new "Sweep Panorama" mode allows you to capture panorama images by simple pressing the shutter release once and then moving the camera from side to side or up and down while the camera snaps and combines all of the images it needs to create your final image.

Panorama FUNC. Menu:

  • Shooting Direction - Left, Right, Up, Down
  • Image Size - Standard, Wide
  • Exposure Value - -2.0 to +2.0
  • White Balance - Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent 1, Fluorescent2, Fluorescent 3, Incandescent, Flash, Custom
  • Focus- Multi AF, Center AF, Spot AF
  • Metering Mode-Multi, Center, Spot 
  • Menu- Enter the change shooting settings, Main Settings, Memory Card Tool, Clock Settings

Movie mode allows you to capture videos with sound at resolutions of 1280x720 or 640x480. While shooting in 720p HD mode, the camera is able to capture movies up to 29 minutes in length. The W350 also allows you to use the optical zoom while recording your movies.
