Record Modes & Menus
The Home menu gives you direct access to all of the different menus on the camera.

Here you can see Auto mode. This is a fully automatic 'point-n-shoot' exposure mode where the camera chooses all of the exposure settings for you. There are very few options available, like Flash mode, Focus, Smile shutter, Self-timer, iSCN, etc. For those who like access to more exposure options, the T77 also offers a Program AE exposure mode (not shown).
To select the camera mode, you simple touch the icon that is directly above the Menu 'button'. You can choose from: Auto, Program, Easy, High ISO, Movie, Landscape, Soft Snap, Twilight Portrait, Twilight, and SCN (Gourmet, Beach, Snow, Fireworks, Underwater (requires optional housing), Hi-Speed Shutter).
When you half-press the shutter release the AF system activates, and when successful, the focus brackets will turn green (one for each point that is in focus). The camera also displays a green 'Focus OK' dot at the bottom left corner along with the shutter speed and aperture values.
Display choices:
Simple: - No exposure info, buttons/options displayed Image Only: - No exposure info, buttons/options Not displayed Histogram: - On or Off Brightness: - Normal or Bright
Record menu options in Auto mode:
iSCN - Off, Auto, Advanced Face Detection - When Touched (tap the LCD when you want focus), Auto, Child or Adult priority Smile Detection Sensitivity - Low, Medium, High Rec Mode - Normal or Burst Exposure Compensation - 2EV in 1/3EV Steps Red Eye Reduction - Auto, On, Off Setup - Setup Menu
Here you can see we have Smile Shutter enabled. This option is only available in Auto mode, and works like a Smile 'self-timer'. The camera will automatically release the shutter when it detects a smile in the frame. You can set the sensitivity of this feature via the record menu.
You can record motion video with audio at 640x480 (Fine 30fps, Standard 17fps) or 320x240 (8fps). The 640x480 'VX Fine' mode requires the use of Memory Stick Duo Pro media to insure that it can stream the data fast enough from the camera. Unlike most digicams that record sound with video, the T77 allows you to have full use of the 4x optical zoom while recording. These Motion JPEG format videos are saved as .MPG files.
Movie mode menu options:
Exposure Compensation - 2EV in 1/3EV Steps Metering Mode - Multi or Center Focus - Multi AF, Infinity AF White Balance - Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent 1/2/3, Incandescent Color Mode - Normal, Sepia, B&W Steady Shot - On or Off Setup - Setup Menu |
