 Equipped with a Sony 3x optical 8-24mm (39-117mm 35mm equiv) F2.8-5.6 zoom lens.
The normal autofocus range is 19.7 inches to infinity and it can focus
down to about 3.9 inches in macro mode. There is also a manual focus
option with five presets for 0.5m, 1m, 3m, 7m and infinity.
The zoom lens is controlled from the back of the camera. When in play mode these
buttons control the index and zoom-in modes.
The Sony P5 is basically an advanced point-n-shoot camera, the combination Mode
Dial and shutter release has positions for Setup, Movie, Playback, Record and Night
Scene. See the next page for details on exposure options and the menu system.
Controls on the back. The 4-way selector lets you navigate menus
and accept selections by pressing in the center. It is also used to select images
during playback. When in record mode it serves to toggle the flash modes, macro mode,
selftimer and the Quick Revew function. The DSPL/LCD button controls the color LCD and
the information displayed on it. The MENU button enables the onscreen menu system.
Most camera data is displayed on the color LCD but there is a small monochrome data LCD
located on the back. It displays the battery condition, flash status, macro focus,
selftimer and the capacity of the Memory Stick.
I/O ports are on the back: The DC IN for the battery charger, high-speed USB
port for downloading to the computer and the A/V out with mono audio and video
(selectable for NTSC or PAL).
On the side is the combination battery compartment and Memory Stick card slot.
Sony includes a 8MB Memory Stick, any size Memory Stick may be used.
The P5 is powered by a new 3.6v NP-FC10 Sony InfoLITHIUM battery pack. It is charged
in-camera with the supplied AC-LS1A charger that also serves as an AC power supply.
