Sony has announced the new Cyber-shot DSC-HX50V. The world's smallest and lightest camera with 30x optical zoom capabilities, the HX50V boasts a 20.4-megapixel Exmor R CMOS image sensor, a BIONZ image processor, Full HD Video Recording at up to 1080/60p, Optical Steady Shot, and an AutoFocus system twice as fast as last year's HX200V.

Sony's HX50V features two professional dials more commonly seen in interchangeable lens cameras. The first controls Exposure Compensation for quick adjustments without having to access the camera's Menu interface. The second is a Mode Dial, which allows owners to quickly toggle between various Automatic, Manual, and programmable Scene Modes.

In addition to In-Camera Editing, Creative Pictures Modes, and over a dozen Scene Modes, the HX50V includes Face Detection (up to 8 faces), Intelligent Sweep Panorama, and built-in Wi-Fi capabilities. When combined with Sony's PlayMemories App, available on both Andriod and iOS tablet and smartphone platforms, it's quick and easy to transfer content to a connected device. The app also acts as a remote control to help zoom, frame, and capture a photo when the photographer wants to be included in large group and/or self portraits.
