Sony has announced the the ILCA-a77 II, otherwise known as the α77II or Alpha 77 Mach II. An updated version of Sony's 2011 model, the SLT-a77, the a77 II features the same 24.3-megapixel APS-C sized Exmor CMOS image sensor, XGA OLED Tru-Finder, 12 frames-per-second Continuous Shooting, Full 1080p HD video recording, mini HDMI terminal, Auto HDR, and magnesium alloy body (with dust and moisture resistance) as its predecessor... Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

So, what makes the a77 II different? Basically, Sony has taken a very good mid-level DSLR and revised it for 2014, adding new performance features and wireless connectivity...

And did we mention that it's going to be $200 cheaper?

Yup, the MSRP (for body-only and kit versions) will start at $200 less than the previous model, despite numerous improvements under the hood. With the top-of-the line BIONZ X image processing engine, Sony has upgraded the new camera's ISO sensitivity (an expanded 100 - 25600 range) and AutoFocus system, which includes 79-point phase-detection, Lock-on AF, AF Range Control, and Eye AF.

The a77 II has also increased the number of Picture Effects to 13, while adding Auto Object Framing, Multi Frame NR (Noise Reduction), a Multi Interface Shoe (for various accessories), and a new SteadyShot INSIDE mode to compensate for camera shake. Even the three-way tilltable LCD display has gonna a resolution boost to 1.228K dots. Finally, like most 2014 cameras, the a77 II now includes Wi-Fi and NFC (Near Field Communication) technologies, which will allow the camera to connect with compatible iOS and Android devices. From there, it's easy to back up, transfer, and share your digital images and videos.
