Samsung WB850F Review
Review posted 07/05/2012
Samsung unveiled six new Wi-Fi enabled cameras at CES 2012 for the new year; the WB850F, WB150F, and ST200F. The WB850F is the top of the line model of the three, offering a 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 21x optical zoom, 3.0-inch AMOLED display, 1080/30p FullHD video with Dual Capture and built-in GPS and Wi-Fi.
The camera is housed in a sleek black metal frame, which offers comfortable ergonomics and controls. While the WB850F is part of Samsung's "SMART" offerings, featuring Smart Auto, Smart Wi-Fi, etc., the camera still offers plenty of control to advanced users with options like Program AE, Shutter speed priority, Aperture priority, and Manual modes.
It's impressive to find a 21x optical zoom lens and a pop-up flash unit in a camera that measures less than 1 inch in thickness. In addition, the AMOLED display screen is among the sharpest and brightest that you're going to find in a point-n-shoot camera.
With a price tag of more than $350, the WB850F is one of the more expensive point-n-shoot cameras out there. However, it offers quite a few components and features that aren't found in many cameras, regardless of price range.

Bottom Line |
| The Samsung WB850F is an expensive camera, carrying a price tag of more than $350; but it has several interesting features for a point and shoot model, including a GPS unit, a pop-up flash unit, Wi-Fi capabilities, a high-resolution AMOLED screen, and a 21x optical zoom lens. Images are sharp and bright with the WB850F, but it does have some problems with sluggish response times and poor battery life. Read more in our Full Conclusion. |
