Here you can see the SMART shooting mode, which is a fully automatic exposure mode that is perfect for those who want to point-n-shoot. There is limited access to camera settings, in fact, you can only change the photo size, flash mode, or enable the self-timer. This is an intelligent exposure mode that chooses the correct exposure settings by analyzing the subject being framed, and then selects the proper Scene mode settings to use. This ensures you get optimal results for various types of shooting.

When you half press the shutter release, the AF marks will turn green if focus is achieve or red if it fails. As you can see the camera has identified our scene as a macro type shot and automatically enabled macro mode.

In Program AE mode, the camera selects both shutter speed and aperture values automatically. However, now you have access to more advanced camera settings like ISO, White balance, Metering, Focus Area, etc.

Pressing the Menu button brings up this menu of options. There are four tabs, Functions, Sound, Display, and Settings. Each tab brings up it's own menu, like the Function menu shown below.

Function menu settings in Program mode:

Exposure Compensation - ±2EV in 1/3EV steps
White Balance - Auto, Sunny, Cloudy, Fluorescent H, Fluorescent L, Tungsten, Custom Set
ISO - Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200
Face Detection - Off, Normal, Beauty Shot, Self-Portrait, Smile Shot, Blink Detection
Photo Size - 12M, 10M (3:2), 9M (16:9), 8M, 5M, 3M, 1M
Quality -SuperFine, Fine, Normal
ACB - Automatically compensates for differences in brightness; On or Off
Metering - Multi, Spot, Center-weighted
Drive - Single, Continuous, Motion Capture, AE Bracketing
Frame Guide - On or Off
Focus Area - Center or Multi
Photo Style Selector - Normal, Soft, Vivid, Forest, Retro, Cool, Calm, Classic, Negative, Custom
Image Adjust - Toggle Contrast, Sharpness and Saturation in 5 steps
DIS - Digital Image Stabilization; On or Off
Voice - Off, Voice memo, Voice recording

Movie mode records 800x592 (20fps), 640x480 (30/15fps) or 320x240 (30/15fps) motion video with stereo audio. Movie clips are saved in Motion JPEG format as .AVI video files. The length of these movies is limited only by the amount of available memory (2GB max. clip size). Unlike most models, you can use the optical zoom while recording. The stabilizer system is also available in movie mode, however Only when using a SD/SDHC memory card (option is not available when using the internal memory).

Stabilizer - On or Off (not available when using internal memory)
Sound - On or Off

There's even a SMART Movie mode option.

Shooting settings menu options:

Fromat - Format the memory card/internal memory
Reset - Return all settings to factory defaults
Date & Time - Set the internal clock/calendar
Time Zone - Choose your time zone
File No. - Series or Reset
Imprint - Off, Date or Date & Time
Auto Power Off - Off, 1, 3, 5 or 10 minutes
AF Lamp - Turn the AF assist lamp On of Off
Video Out - NTSC or PAL format
USB mode - Auto, Computer, Printer
