The TL100 is equipped with a Samsung 3x optical zoom lens, which covers a focal range of f = 6.3 ~ 18.9mm (35 - 105mm, 35mm equivalent) and has a maximum aperture range of f/3.0 - f/5.6. When the camera is powered down, the lens retracts into the body and is protected by a built-in lens cover.
Focus is achieved by a 9-point TTL contrast detection AF system, that features a low-light focus assist illuminator. The Autofocus Range is:
Normal: 2.6 ft. (80cm) to infinity at wide angle
Macro: 4.0 in. - 2.6 ft. (10cm - 80cm) wide, 1.6 - 2.6 ft. (50cm - 80cm) telephoto
The built-in flash has modes for Auto, Auto & Red-eye reduction, Fill-in flash, Slow sync, Flash off, and
Red-eye fix. Working range in wide angle is approx. 15.7 in. to 9.8 ft. (0.4 to 3.0m), telephoto is 1.6 ft.
to 6.6 ft. (0.5 to 2.0m), using ISO Auto. Recharge time is approx. 4 seconds with fully charged battery.
Here you can see the 2.7-inch color LCD monitor, which takes up a large portion of the back of the camera. This display features 230,000 pixels of resolution with several brightness settings (Auto, Dark, Normal, Bright).
Controls on the back: At the top right is the Movie/Still mode switch. Next is the MENU button which calls up and dismisses the on-screen menu system. The 4-way selector controller is for navigating menu options, press the OK button in the center to accept a selection. Press "Right" to activate the Self-timer, press "Down" to enable Macro mode, press "Left" to change flash modes and press "Up" controls the amount of information displayed on the LCD screen.
Along the bottom are the playback button (enters review mode), and the delete button.
On top you'll find the SMART mode and power On/Off buttons. Next is the shutter release with the zoom controls mounted around it. In playback, the zoom controls act as the Index and Magnify options. Lastly you can see the built-in speaker.
The combination I/O port is located on the right hand side of the camera above the wrist strap mount. The miniature connector is for the
USB 2.0 (full-speed) data cable, Audio/Video cable for connection to a TV set, and is used for charging the battery. This means you can plug the camera into any powered USB port on your PC/Mac to charge tha camera> Samsung also includes an AC adapter that allows you to plug the camera into an AC outlet for charging.
The TL100 stores images, movies and sound clips on either the ~31MB of internal memory or a MMC
cards up to 2GB, SD cards up to 4GB, and SDHC cards up to 8GB.

The TL100 is powered by a SLB-07A 3.7V 720mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery pack. This Li-ion battery pack is charged while inside the camera, and Samsung has taken a creative approach to the AC charger.
The USB cable is also the charger cable - you just plug it into the small AC adapter included in the box or plug it into your PC to transfer your photos and recharge at the same time (note: charging from the PC takes about twice as long as using the AC adapter). Samsung claims you can capture up to 200 photos or 80 minutes of continuous shooting (like in Movie mode) with a fully charged pack.
