Here you can see the SMART shooting mode, which is fully automatic, perfect for those who want to just point-n-shoot. There is limited access to camera settings, in fact, you can only change the photo size, flash mode, or enable the self-timer. This is an intelligent exposure program that chooses the correct exposure settings by analyzing the subject being framed, and then selects the proper Scene mode settings to use. This ensures you get optimal results for various types of shooting.

In Program AE mode, the camera selects both shutter speed and aperture values automatically. However, now you have access to more advanced camera settings like ISO, White balance, Metering, Focus Area, etc.

When you half press the shutter release, the AF marks will turn green if focus is achieved or red if it fails. Once exposure and focus are locked, the camera will display the aperture and shutter speed values at the top left. Other icons on screen indicate that the sensitivity is set to ISO 80, 10M SuperFine quality, Multi metering, OIS is on, the flash is set to auto and is charged and ready to fire, and at the top you can see the battery level indicator.

Pressing the Menu button brings up this menu of options. There are four tabs, Functions, Sound, Display, and Settings. Each tab brings up it's own menu, like the Function menu shown below.

Function menu settings in Program mode:

• Exposure Compensation - ±2EV in 1/3EV steps
• White Balance - Auto, Sunny, Cloudy, Fluorescent H, Fluorescent L, Tungsten, Custom Set
• ISO - Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200
• Face Detection - Off, Normal, Self-Portrait, Smile Shot, Blink Detection
• Photo Size - 10M, 9M (3:2), 7M (16:9), 7M, 5M, 3M, 1M
• Quality -SuperFine, Fine, Normal
• ACB - Automatically compensates for differences in brightness; On or Off
• Metering - Multi, Spot, Center-weighted
• Drive - Single, Continuous, Motion Capture, AE Bracketing
• Focus Area - Center or Multi
• Photo Style Selector - Normal, Soft, Vivid, Forest, Retro, Cool, Calm, Classic, Negative, Custom
• Image Adjust - Toggle Contrast, Sharpness and Saturation in 5 steps
• OIS - Optical Image Stabilization; On or Off
• Voice - Off, Voice memo, Voice recording

Movie mode records 640x480 (30/15fps) or 320x240 (30/15fps) motion video with audio. Movie clips are saved in Motion JPEG format as .AVI video files. The length of these movies is limited only by the amount of available memory (2GB max. clip size). Unlike most models, you can use the optical zoom while recording.

Shooting settings menu options:

• Format - Format the memory card/internal memory
• Reset - Return all settings to factory defaults
• Date & Time - Set the internal clock/calendar
• Time Zone - Choose your time zone
• File No. - Series or Reset
• Imprint - Off, Date or Date & Time
• Auto Power Off - Off, 1, 3, 5 or 10 minutes
• Video Out - NTSC or PAL format
• AF Lamp - Turn the AF assist lamp On of Off
• USB mode - Auto, Computer, Printer
