Note: the PL210 kit does not include an AV cable, therefore we had to photograph the LCD for the screens below.


samsung_pl210_rec_auto.JPG Samsung's "Smart Auto" shooting mode will automatically look at the scene and determine the correct camera settings and shooting modes for you, allowing you to just point and shoot without worrying. Here the only options that you have are: flash on/off and self timer settings.





samsung_pl210_rec_program.JPGWhile also acting as a fully automatic shooting mode, "Program" allows you to access more advanced settings like ISO, White Balance, etc. The LCD icons show you most of the photos settings, which can be removed by pressing your 4-way pad "up".






samsung_pl210_rec_modes.JPGPressing the mode button on the camera allows you to quickly change its shooting mode. You have 5 options, all automatic, but with differing amounts of control and features, including a High Definition movie mode.

It also provides you with shortcuts while the camera is in shooting mode. Up controls the display information, right is the self-timer, down is macro mode and left gives you the flash settings.

  • Smart Filters - Normal, Miniature, Vignetting, Half Tone Dot, Sketch, Fish-eye 2, Defog, Classic, Retro, Negative, Custom RGB
  • Face Detection - Off, Normal, Self-Portrait, Smile Shot, Blink Detection, Smart Face Recognition
  • Focus Area - Center AF, Multi AF, Tracking AF
  • Metering - Multi, Spot, Center-Weighted
  • Drive - Single, Continuous, Motion Capture, AEB
  • OIS - On or Off

Shooting:

samsung_pl210_rec_movie.JPGIn Movie mode you can record in1280x720 (720p HD, 30/15fps), 640x480 (30/15fps) or 320x240 (60/30/15fps) motion video with audio. All movie clips are saved in Motion JPEG format as .AVI video files. The length of movies that can be recorded is determined by the amount of available memory (2GB max. clip size), and unlike most models, the optical zoom can be used while recording.
