This is an internal lens that does not extend when the camera is powered on. There is however, a built in lens cover to help protect it while the camera in not in operation.
Focus is achieved by a TTL contrast detection AF system, that features a low-light focus assist illuminator for shooting in marginal lighting conditions. The Autofocus Range is:

Here you can see the high-resolution (230,000 PIXEL) 3.0-inch color LCD monitor, which takes up a large portion of the back of the camera. Controls on the back: Along the top of the LCD is the Face Recognition AF & AE button (On or Off), Mode button (Shooting mode, Scene mode, Multimedia mode), and the Playback button. At the top right are the zoom controls, which also function as the image Index and Magnify buttons in play mode as well as the volume controls when playing MP3 files. Fn button, which brings up the onscreen Function shortcut menu. This menu allows you to change settings for image size, quality, drive mode, ISO, etc. as well as acts as the image delete button in playback mode. The combination I/O port is located on the bottom of the camera. The miniature connector is for both the
USB 2.0 (full-speed) data cable and the Audio/Video cable for connection to a TV set. On the right hand
side of the camera, there's also a headphone jack (not shown). This allows you to use the included
headphones for listening to your MP3 music files, movies, etc.
The i85 features the highest amount of internal flash memory that we have seen (as of 11/2007) at a
whopping 190MB! Images, movies and sound clips are stored on either the internal memory or a
SD/MMC/MMCPlus cards up to 2GB, and SDHC cards up to 4GB.
Approx. 256MB Storage Capacity
The i85 is powered by a proprietary SLB-1137D 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion battery pack that is charged while inside the camera. Samsung has taken a creative approach to the AC charger. The USB cable is also the charger cable - you just plug it into a small AC adapter. The same USB cable plugs into your PC to transfer your photos and recharge from the PC. It took 2 hours to charge the battery using the AC adapter and 4 hours to charge directly from the PC.
