AUTO record mode screen display. The green camera icon indicates Auto mode, battery level is full, the zoom is at moderate wide angle, the flash is forced off, there's space on our memory card for another 181 pictures at 2592x1944 SuperFine quality, the white bracket in the center is the auto focus area, lower left is icon for Auto Macro mode.

When the shutter release is half-pressed the auto focus is activated, if successful, the center AF area marks turn green.

Record menu options:

    MODE - Auto, Manual, Scene

    SIZE - 2592x1944, 2272x1704, 2048x1536, 1600x1200, 1024x768 or 640x480

    QUALITY - Super Fine, Fine, Normal

    SETUP - Enter Setup menu (see below)

    MYCAM - Enter MyCamera setup menu (see below)

The Manual record mode is much like Auto, but adds settings for metering, drive mode, sharpness, color mode, and special effects.

In Auto or Manual mode, press the "+/-" button to display this overlay menu to change the white balance, ISO speed or exposure compensation.

When you choose the Scene option in the record menu, this screen will appear. You then use the 4-way controller to choose the desired mode.

Macro focus mode range is from 30 to 80cm and Super Macro focus range is from 5 to 80cm (wide) / 50 to 80cm (tele).

Movie mode lets you record MPEG-4 movies limited in length only by the amount of remaining memory. You can choose resolutions of 640x480, 320x240 or 160x120 at either 15 or 30 fps. Sound is recorded along with the moving image. The optical zoom can not be used during movie recording but can be preset beforehand. It also features a Stabilizer feature, which helps reduce camera shake.

The U-CA 5 can also Record Audio like a voice recorder. Up to one hour of voice or sound audio only can be recorded and played back in the camera.

    FORMAT - Format the memory card

    DATE - Set time and date

    IMPRINT - Date and time stamping options

    SOUND - Camera sounds volume level

    USB - PC or PictBridge mode

    Lamp - On/Off

    AF LAMP - Auto focus assist lamp

    LCD - LCD back light intensity

    VIDEO - NTSC or PAL format

    Q.VIEW - Display image after capture

    RESET - Restore factory settings
