Samsung is a South Korean company formed in 1938 and is now one of the world's most recognizable brands. Samsung manufactures a staggering number of consumer electronics and leads the global market in several categories. The company first began to sell cameras in the 1980s and later introduced their first digital camera in 1997.
Today, Samsung cameras rank number three in global market share, accounting for nearly 10% of sales. The Samsung digicam lineup consists mostly of point-and-shoot cameras that appeal to the broadest group of consumers. In recent years, however, Samsung cameras have received praise and numerous awards for their designs and innovative features.
Samsung produces a number of digital cameras across several product lines. The new ST Series cameras sport stylish, slim bodies and features like touchscreen LCDs, wireless connectivity, and high-definition video. PL Series models are packed with advanced features but emphasize ease of use. The WB and NV Series are premium models aimed at more demanding users, while the ES Series represents their entry-level models. Samsung also offers a line of digital SLR cameras under the GX Series.
