NOTE: You might recognize this series under its former PENTAX brand name. PENTAX has decided, going forward, to focus only on interchangeable lens cameras, lenses, and sport optics. Ricoh, as a brand, has been reserved for compact cameras.

Ricoh Imaging has announced two new lifeproof cameras, the WG-4 GPS and WG-4. Taking off from where the WG-3 models left off, these two tough cameras are virtually identical save for one feature. Yup, you guessed it, the GPS.  So, if you want to geo-tag your photos and keep track of all your adventures, it will cost you $50 more than the standard model.

Otherwise, the WG-4 and WG-4 GPS offer up the same package of nice features.

Built for adventurers, the WG-4 cameras are waterproof down to 45 feet, shockproof from drops of up to 6.6 feet, cold proof down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit, and crushproof up to 220 foot-pounds. Beyond the brawny exterior, they offer a 16-megapixel CMOS image sensor and a 4x optical zoom lens with a speedy f/2.0 maximum aperture and a dual shake-reduction system to make sure your Full HD and Slow Motion Videos are recorded without too much wobble.

While the WG-4 cameras are point-and-shoot, they have some fun technologies from more expensive Ricoh / PENTAX cameras. First, there's USER Mode, which enables users to quickly recall most frequently used settings. Shutter Priority mode allows users to customize the shutter speed for desire effect, while the camera automatically adjusts aperture and ISO. HDR Mode allows users to take High Dynamic Range photos. And Panoramic Mode is for taking epic and wide vista shots without an extremely wide-angle lens.
