Record Screens & Menus
![]()
A typical record screen with most of the onscreen icons showing. I am not crazy about
Ricoh's choice of the pinkish color as it is often hard to see against other screen
colors.

As with most digicams you half-press the shutter release to activate the autofocus
system and set the exposure. When the camera has locked the AF the "+" mark in the
center of the LCD turns green as shown above.
![]() In Continuous mode you can record a series of images at high speed, the table below shows the approximate number of images that can be captured in each size and quality mode. Uncompressed mode can not be used with Continuous mode. White balance, focus and exposure are locked with the first frame. The color LCD is not active when capturing in Continuous mode.
![]()
When the Macro mode is engaged the focal length is fixed for optimal closeups with
minimal distortion and the lens can focus as close as 1cm !
![]()
The special Text recording mode uses high contrast and monochrome mode to copy text
documents and saves it in TIFF format in 2272x1704 or 1120x840 size. The contrast is
settable between -2, -1, 0, +1, +2.
![]()
The RR1 can capture full motion video with audio at 288x216 resolution and saves it
in standard Windows AVI format. The length of movie clips is limited only by the
amount of available memory. As with most digicams, the zoom can not be used in
Movie mode as its sound would be captured.
![]()
Exposure value override is from +2 to -2EV in 1/4EV steps, the changes can be seen in
realtime on the color LCD screen.
![]()
White balance options include Auto, Sunny, Cloudy, Incandescent, Fluorescent or
Manual with individual adjustment of both red and blue. As with the exposure value
adjustment the setting changes can be seen in realtime on the LCD.
![]()
Voice recorder mode. Use the camera just like a digital voice recorder. Audio clips
are limited in length only by the amount of memory available.
