The Ricoh GR is a compact, high performance, fixed-lens digicam with a 16-megapixel APS-C sized CMOS image sensor that has been designed without an optical low-pass filter for optimum resolution and color accuracy. With an f/2.8 maximum aperture, this 18.3mm (28mm equivalent) wide-angle lens, with its 100-25600 ISO range, is great in low lighting conditions. On the other end of the spectrum, there is an ND (Neutral Density) filter for shooting in the bright outdoors.

The GR ENGINE V image processor helps the GR achieve 4 frames-per-second continuous shooting, a 1.0-second start-up time, and a 0.2 second Auto Focus (AF). Speaking of AutoFocus, there is a dedicated AF button where you can engage the caner's C-AF mode, or Continuous AutoFocus, which will track moving subjects in stills or in your Full 1080p HD videos, which are recorded in the h.264 codec at up to 30 fps. For still images, you have the options of capturing JPG or RAW images.

Advanced users will enjoy the ability to engage full manual controls as well as aperture priority or shutter priority. But don't worry if you're new to photography, there is an fully automatic mode for you. Other nice features include a built-in flash, a hot shoe for accessories, a Macro Mode, 9 Filter Effects, a dual-axis electronic level, and a 35mm crop mode.
