Playback Screens & Menus

Please excuse the quality of these screen captures, the Pentax Q camera kit does not include an AV cable, therefore we had to photograph the LCD.

When you press the blue play button on the top of the camera, the last image or video captured will be displayed on the LCD with minimal information. Press "right" or "left" or rotate the control dial to scroll through captured files. Pressing the INFO button below the 4-way controller on the back allows you to alter the amount of information overlaid on the LCD. You can choose minimal (default), Histogram, Extended Information, or clear all info from the screen; the best option for sharing photos with friends and family.  Pressing "down" on the 4-way controller will enter the Mode/Edit short cut menu; shown further down this page.

Rotating the control dial counter-clockwise while in Playback will enter the index display mode. This allows you to quickly search through stored files and select one for full screen playback. You get 9 small thumbnails to choose from, and pressing "up" or "down" on the 4-way controller will scroll through files. Rotating the control wheel in the same direction again will bring up a folder view, which allows you to search files by the folder (date) they were captured.

pentax_q_play_zoom.jpgYou can also magnify an image up to 10x in several steps by rotating the control wheel clockwise. To move around inside the magnified image, you use the 4-way controller. A small key is shown at the bottom left indicating the position within the frame that you are zoomed in on.

Playback Options:

The 4-way selector gives you VCR/DVR like controls, with options to play, pause, fast-forward, rewind, or edit a video file; down on the 4-way.
