PENTAX has just announced its latest Optio point-and-shoot digital camera, the VS20, with a focus on its 20x optical zoom (a 35mm equivalent of 28-560mm) and flexibility in shooting. Meaning, the VS20 comes with a few special features to help shoot pictures while the camera is in a vertical position, including a vertical tripod socket and an image orientation shift on the camera's larger 3.0" LCD screen.
The Optio VS20 also features a 16-megapixel CCD image sensor capable of recording 720p HD video (though the camera's a/v output is incapable of connecting to HDTVs at this resolution). If Auto Picture isn't enough to help novices get the best settings no matter the shooting conditions, there is also Triple SHake Reduction (SR) to help attain sharp, resolute still images and shake-free video.
Creative types will love the 13 Picture Modes modes where some -- like Fish-eye, Sketch, and Stretch -- are more for artistic expression, others -- like Handheld Night Snap -- have been designed to help take quality shots in less-then-perfect lighting conditions. There are also a host of new and improved Facial Recognition technologies to always make sure your friends and families are perfectly in focus.
