Pentax K10D SLR Review

The controls used during playback review are marked in blue. To the right of the eyelevel finder is the rear e-dial which functions as the Index and Zoomed View dial. The AE-Lock button is the image Protect button. The 4-way controller/OK button lets you select images during playback. The DELETE (trashcan) button is for erasing images. The INFO button toggles display of exposure data or histogram. The PLAYBACK button puts the camera into review mode. (see the next page for detailed screens in playback mode.)

Pressing the INFO button while in capture mode displays a screen full of settings and parameters currently in use. Exposure mode, Metering mode, Flash fired, Single frame advance, Shutter speed, Aperture, Exposure and Flash Exposure compensation, Image tone, ISO Auto, sRGB color space, and Auto white balance, Image Quality (JPEG ***), Image size is 10M(egapixel), Shake Reduction enabled, Focus mode, Focus point, Lens focal length, color Saturation at default, Sharpness at default, Contrast at default, Date and time, battery level.

Turning the Mode Dial to select another exposure mode will cause the color LCD to briefly display the screens show above. This function can be disabled by turning Guide Display off in the setup menu.

Function Menu Options

Pressing the Fn (Function) button in record mode brings up a shortcut menu that allows you to quickly change the White Balance, ISO, Drive Mode or Flash Mode.

Record Menu Options

• Recorded Pixels - 10M, 6M, 2M
• JPEG Quality - ( Best , Better, Good)
• Image Tone - Bright (more contrast and sharpness) or Natural
• Saturation - Adjust color saturation (+2, +1, Normal, -1, -2)
• Sharpness - Adjust sharpness (+2, +1, Normal, -1, -2)
• Contrast - Adjust contrast (+2, +1, Normal, -1, -2)
• File Format - JPEG, RAW, RAW+JPEG
• RAW file format - PEF or DNG
• Extended Bracket - Off, WB, Saturation, Sharpness, Contrast
• Multi-exposure - Set the number of exposures and EV adjust
• Memory - Set the parameters to be "remembered" from power off to power on
• Shake Reduction - Set focal length of attached non-automatic lens, used by Shake Reduction system
