For beginners or anyone that just wants to 'point-n-shoot' there's the iA (Intelligent Auto) exposure mode. In this mode, the camera will adjust all the settings based on what it sees leaving very little customization.

The Auto mode will give you more options to change settings, but like iA, the camera will assess the scene and adjust settings on it's own.

Because the ZR3 has the dedicated movie record button, the camera is always ready to flow right into recording. Movie mode allows you to record video with sound in resolutions of HD 1280x720, 848x480, 640x480 and 320x240, while audio is recorded with the camera's built-in mic. A feature we are starting to find more often that is on the ZR3 is the ability to use the optical zoom during video recording.
