When you switch to Play mode the last picture captured is displayed full screen with
some information overlayed; image size and quality, folder name, file number,
picture # / total # of pictures and the time and date of capture.
Pressing the DISPLAY button toggles the extended image information which shows the
exposure mode, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, flash mode, white balance, metering mode and
histogram.
When an image is played back in full screen mode you can go into zoomed playback mode
by rotating the Command Dial clockwise. There are four magnification
steps from 2x to 16x and once the image is enlarged you can scroll around inside
of it using the 4-way selector.
Rotating the Command Dial counter-clockwise enables the thumbnail index mode.
There are 9 small images per page shown and quickly lets you locate any desired
image on your memory card.
The Play mode menu has options for rotating portrait mode images,
protecting images from erasure, setting DPOF print
options, start an automated slide show, add an audio comment, resize pictures to a
smaller size, trim (crop) and save images to a smaller size and format the memory card.
Up to a 10-second audio memo can be recorded and attached to still images.
Large images can be resized in-camera to save space. 5-megapixel images can be downsized
to 2048x1536, 1600x1200, 1280x960 or 640x480.
And you can Trim (crop) images in-camera and then save them back to the memory card
without erasing the original image.
