Panasonic's FZ35 features an iAuto (intelligent auto) shooting mode, which allows anyone to pick up the camera and start shooting. This iAuto mode will pick the best scene mode and camera settings for you based on your current shooting situation. Pressing the display button allows you to change the amount of shooting information that is shown on the screen. You have the option of no information, a 9-square grid or a full list of the shooting information. Since this camera does not have a separate video shooting mode, you have the choice of either still or movie information that can be shown.





Half pressing the shutter release shows you that the camera is capable of achieving focus for your current image by showing the green rectangles. If it fails the camera will beep three times and the green dot will flash.




The Mode Dial presents you with plenty of shooting modes, including the most popular scene modes for quick selection. On the dial are iAuto, Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual, Creative Movie, Custom, SCN, Night Portrait, Close-Up/Macro, Sports, Scenery, Portrait and My Color Mode.





To compliment the scene modes that are available on the Mode Dial there are also 20 more in the Scene mode: Panorama Assist, Party, Candle Light, Baby 1, Baby 2, Pet, Sunset, High Sensitivity, Hi-Speed Burst, Flash Burst, Panning, Starry Sky, Fireworks, Beach, Snow, Aerial Photo, Pin Hole, Film Grain, High Dynamic and Photo Frame.





For those that have a little more photography experience, the FZ35 has shooting modes that give you more control over the camera as well. To go along with a full list of scene modes that are available on the Mode Dial, there are also Program, Aperture and Shutter priority modes and Manual mode for total control (shown above).





Pressing the joystick style button on the back while the camera is in REC mode brings up a quick menu for quickly changing camera settings:

• AF Mode - 11-Area, 1-Area High Speed, 1-Area, Spot, Face Detection
• White Balance - Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Shade, Flash, Halogen, White Set 1-2, Color Temperature
• ISO - Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600
• Intellegent Exposure - Low, Standard, High or Off
• Picture Size - 12M, 8M, 5M, 3M, 2M, 0.3M

• LCD Mode - Off, Auto Power LCD, Power LCD

The 4-way controller not only navigates through the menus, but it also acts as shortcuts to Exposure Compensation, Flash, Self-Timer and pressing down is the Fn button which you can program for yourself.
