Playback Screens & Menus
Please excuse the poor quality of these screen captures. The TG-830 kit does not include an AV output cable, therefore we had to photograph the display screen.
To open the Playback mode so you can see the images you've already shot, press the Playback button on the back of the Olympus TG-830. Use the left and right buttons on the four-way button to scroll through the images.
With an image displayed on the screen, you can view data about it using the Info button, which is the upper button on the four-way button. The main image display screen includes the date and time the image was shot in the lower right corner and the file number in the upper right corner. Press the Info button to see more data about the image, including the histogram in the upper right corner, along with the shooting mode that was used, shutter speed, aperture, EV, ISO, white balance, resolution, and file name. If you press Info again, the TG-830 will show the image with no data on the screen.
To see more images at one time on the screen, press the left side (W) of the zoom switch. The TG-830 iHS displays a 4x5 grid of thumbnail images. Highlight one of the thumbnails and press OK to display the thumbnail image at full size. Press the right side of the zoom switch (T) to return to a single-image view. The 4x5 grid is your only thumbnail option.
With a single image displayed on the screen, you can magnify the image to ensure sharpness. Press the right side of the zoom switch (T) to begin the magnification. You can select from 10 different levels of magnification. The full image will appear in a thumbnail in the upper right corner, and the portion of the image that's currently viewable will be indicated by a small white box inside the thumbnail. Press the left side of the switch to reduce the magnification.
The TG-830's Playback menu has a limited number of options for controlling the playback. Just press the Menu button while you're in Playback mode to see your options, which include:
- Slideshow - Type (Normal, Short, Long), BGM (Off, MIX, Cosmic, Breeze, Mellow, Dreamy, Urban), Start
- Edit - Shrink, Crop, Audio, Beauty Fix, Shadow Adj, Redeye Fix, Landmark, Rotate
- Erase - All Erase, Sel. Image, Erase
You can view different sets of data about each of the movies you've shot with the TG-830 iHS using the Playback mode, too. On the main movie mode you'll see the movie control icon in the lower left corner, the date and time of the recording in the lower right corner, and the file name in the upper right corner.
Press the Info button to see more detailed data about the movie, including the resolution and the white balance. Press Info again to remove all data from the screen, other than the movie control icon. Press OK to begin playing the movie.
