Turning the rear dial to the -magnifying glass takes the camera to index mode. Here you can search through thumbnails of the images that are stored on the SD card. This is a fast and simple way to find that one great image you are looking for. The touch LCD screen also gives you access to the index and calendar modes. Sliding your finger allows you to scroll through the thumbnails.
Turning the rear dial the other way allows you to zoom in on any image saved on the camera. Once you have zoomed in, you can use the 4-way controller to scroll around the image. This is a great way to check focus and detail while in the field. The zoom control can also be controlled via the touch screen, sliding a bar to increase and decrease the amount of zoom. Touching and dragging the screen allows you to see the entire image.
