Pressing the playback button on the back of the camera takes you to the playback mode. Here you can see all of the images that are saved on the camera's SD card. You can change the amount of information on the LCD by pressing the INFO button.
Spinning the back command dial to the index icon takes the camera to index mode, but only when the camera is already in playback mode. This allows you to view thumbnails of the images on the SD card, which is great for searching a large number of images. If you keep turning the dial that way, you will find calendar mode, which separates the images by the date they were taken.
Turning the back command dial the other way allows you to zoom in on an image. Once you have zoomed in, you can use the 4-way controller to scroll around the image. This is a great way to check focus and detail when you do not have a computer handy.
