Olympus E-620 Body Construction
By Mike Flacy
The reinforced plastic chassis is incredibly light and strong, allowing the body to weigh in at just 1.04 lbs without a memory card or batteries. I found the size and weight are very comfortable for shooting, holding and transporting the camera.
The built-in image stabilization system relies on SWD motors to keep the sensor still, even though your hands might not be. Since the stabilization is inside the lens, you are free to use any compatible lens with the confidence that you have an effective IS system at all times; perfect for shooting in lower lighting situations.
Live-MOS Image Sensor
The upgraded 12.3 Megapixel "Live-MOS" imaging sensor allows you to capture more detail than ever before. With this much resolution, you can capture images that are large enough to be cropped down, and still easily create large prints.
The TTL Phase-difference detection autofocus system is incredibly fast because of a 7-point AF sensor (5-points cross AF sensor / 7-points twin AF sensor). Live view mode uses a Contrast detection system which is a little slower, but it can be combined with the Phase-difference for the camera's "hybrid" mode.
