When you switch to Playback mode the last picture captured is displayed full screen with a minimal amount of overlay information (image quality, time/date, and folder-file number). The green "music" icon indicates a voice memo has been recorded and attached to the image. The green "key icon indicates the image has been protected against deletion.

This screen shows the exposure information: the file folder number (100), picture number (0089), image quality (SHQ), image size (2560 x 1920), aperture f4.0, shutter speed 1/80 sec., exposure compensation (0.0), white balance (AUTO), ISO speed (100), date (6/27/05), and time (12:28) and the image number (5.)

Pressing the wide angle zoom control enables the thumbnail index mode. Under the Setup menu, you can select to display 4, 9 or 16 thumbnails to quickly locate a desired image on your memory card. The green "movie camera" indicates that the image is a video file.

While viewing an image full screen, you can press the telephoto zoom control and magnify an image from 1.5x to 5.0x. Once enlarged you can move around the image using the 4-way controller to examine the picture for color, focus, etc.

You can record and playback short (10 second max.) voice memos that are attached to image files.

While the movie is playing, the run time and total time is displayed in the lower right corner of the screen. You can then fast forward, rewind, and adjust the volume using the 4-way controller.

Pressing the Menu button in playback mode brings up the Shortcut menu with options to start a Slideshow, show playback INFO, Protect the image or enter the Mode Menu.

The Mode Menu:

    - Enter DPOF printing information

    - Add a brief voice memo to a still picture


    ADD FRAME - Put a decorative frame around your picture

    BLACK&WHITE - Changes images to Black&White

    SEPIA - Changes images to Sepia tone

    - Creates a smaller 640x480 or 320x240 image and saves it as a new file
