When you switch to Play mode the last picture captured is displayed full
screen with a minimal amount of overlay information (image quality, time/date,
and picture number).
Pressing the OK/MENU button brings up this menu screen. The Left button will
toggle the amount of overlay information displayed, the Down button employs
the Histogram display screen, the Up button starts an automated slide show,
and the Right button will take you to the full Play menu.
This screen shows the maximum amount of overlay information shown with an
image. It displays image quality (SHQ), image size (3072 x 2304), aperture
(F4.0), shutter speed (1/100 sec.), exposure compensation (0.0), white
balance (Auto), ISO speed (80), date (10/21/04), time (16:18), file folder
(100), and picture number (0388).
This shows the histogram display screen in playback mode.
While viewing an image full screen, you can move the zoom control lever to
the telephoto position and magnify an image from 2.0x to 5.0x (1x steps).
You can move around the image using the 4-way selector to examine the
picture for color, focus, etc.
Flipping the zoom control to the wide angle position enables the thumbnail
index mode. Under the Setup menu, you can select to display 4, 9 or 16
thumbnails to quickly locate a desired image on your memory card. The green
"movie camera" indicates that the image is a video file.
Pressing OK/MENU when the file is a movie brings up this menu of options. The
INFO option works the same as with still images, it controls the amount of
overlay information displayed at the start of a movie. The Mode Menu accesses
the Card and Setup menus and the MOVIE PLAYBACK option allows you to play the
movie in the camera.
While the movie is playing, the run time and total time is displayed in the
lower right corner of the screen. You can then fast forward, rewind, and
adjust the volume using the 4-way controller.
You can convert RAW files in-camera with the RAW DATA EDIT feature. It
allows you to choose the finished image size, adjust white balance,
sharpness, contrast, and saturation. The finished JPEG image is then saved
to the xD memory card; the RAW file is not overwritten or deleted.
