Playback Menu

    Delete - Selected or All images
    Playback folder - Current or All folders
    Rotate tall - Yes= rotate portrait images, No = do not rotate
    Slide show - Start auto playback, set Frame Interval 2-10 secs.
    Print set - Embed DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) information.
    Small Picture - Create 640x480, 320x240 or 160x120 size image

Shooting Menu

    Optimize image - (see next frame below for details)
    Long exposure NR - Enable noise reduction for 1 second or longer shutter speeds
    Image quality - NEF Raw, JPEG (Fine, Normal, Basic), or NEF+JPEG Basic
    Image size - Large (3008x2000), Medium (2240x1488) or Small (1504x1000)
    White Balance - Auto, Incandescent, Fluorescent, Direct Sunlight, Flash, Cloudy or Shade with fine tuning or Custom Preset
    ISO - Sensitivity (200, 400, 800, 1600 equivalents)

    Optimize image - Active when in P,S,A or M mode

      Normal - Recommended for most situations (default)
      Vivid - Enhances saturation, contrast and sharpness
      Sharper - Sharpens outlines
      Softer - Softens outlines for smoother portraits
      Direct Print - Optimizes for printing as-is via USB
      Portrait - Lowers contrast and softens background details
      Landscape - Enhances saturation and sharpness for landscapes
      Custom -
        Sharpening - Auto, Normal, Low, Medium low, Medium high, None
        Tone compensation - Auto, Normal, Low Contrast, Medium low, Medium high, High contrast, Custom
        Color mode - IIIa (sRGB), Ia (sRGB), II (AdobeRGB)
        Saturation - Moderate(-), Normal, Enhanced(+)
        Hue adjustment - Adjust color hue -9° to +9° in 3° increments

      To view help on Custom Settings, press the (HELP) button when an item is highlighted in the CSM menu or when the options for a Custom Setting are displayed.

      The Custom Settings menu can be set for SIMPLE display or DETAILED display as shown in the next two frames.

        R Menu reset - Reset all custom settings to default

        01 Beep - Off or On; Beep sounds in self-timer and delayed remote modes

        02 Autofocus - Auto, Single-servo or Continuous-servo AF

        03 AF-area mode - Single area, Dynamic area, Closest subject

        04 No SD Card? - Prevent shutter if no SD card present

        05 Image Review - Instant image review after capture

        06 Flash Level - Adjust flash output from -3.0 to +1.0 in 0.3 steps in the P, A, S and M modes only.

      Custom Settings (DETAILED)

        R Menu reset - Reset all custom settings to default

        01 Beep - Off or On; Beep sounds in self-timer and delayed remote modes

        02 Autofocus - Single-servo or Continuous-servo AF

        03 AF-area mode - Single area, Dynamic area, Closest subject

        04 No SD Card? - Prevent shutter if no SD card present

        05 Image Review - Instant image review after capture

        06 Flash Level - Adjust flash output from -3.0 to +1.0 in 0.3 steps

        07 AF Assist - Enable or disable AF Assist lamp

        08 AF Area Illm - Illuminate active AF area in viewfinder

        09 ISO Control - ISO Auto or Manual in scene modes

        10 ISO Auto - Determines how the ISO value is set in which modes

        11 EV step - 1/3 or 1/2 steps for shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation, flash compensation, and exposure and flash bracketing settings

        12 BKT Set - Determine if auto exposure and/or flash exposure change with each shot in Auto Bracketing mode. WB Bracketing

        13 Metering - Select metering mode: Matrix, Center or Spot

        14 AE-L/AF-L - Specifies the function of the AE / AF Lock button

        15 AE Lock - AE/AF Lock button locks exposure or the Shutter button

        16 Flash mode - TTL auto, Manual output (full, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16)

        17 Monitor Off - Time the LCD monitor stays on (10s, 20s, 1m, 5m, 10m)

        18 Meter Off - The time that information is shown on the data LCD and viewfinder status line (4, 6, 8, 16 secs or 30 mins.)

        19 Self-timer - Define value for the self-timer (2, 5, 10 or 20 secs)

        20 Remote - Controls how long the camera will wait for signal from remote control when no operations are performed in delayed remote or quick-response remote modes: 1 minute (default), 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or 15 minutes. If no signal is received in the specified period or the camera is turned off, the camera will revert to single-frame or continuous mode (whichever was last in effect).

      Setup Menu (Detailed)

        Format - Format the SD card.
        CSM/Setup Menu - Menu display: Simple or Detailed (show all items)
        Date - Set internal clock
        LCD brightness - Adjust brightness of the color LCD
        Video mode - Video signal format (PAL or NTSC)
        Language - Menu language (German, English, French, Japanese, Spanish)
        Image comment - Identifier text attached to all images
        USB - Mass Storage or PTP mode
        Folders - Select, Create, Rename or Delete image folders
        File No. Seq - Off, On, Reset file numbering
        Mirror lock-up - Lock mirror up for CCD cleaning
        Dust ref photo - Acquire Dust Reference Photo for Nikon Capture software
        Firmware Ver. - Display firmware revision numbers
        Image rotation - Automatic portrait mode rotation in playback
