To enter Playback mode with the Nikon Coolpix S9500, you'll press the Playback button on the right-center area of the camera's back panel. You then can see the images that are stored on the camera's memory card.
With a single image displayed on the LCD screen, you can choose to see some limited data about the image, including the date and time it was shot in the upper left corner and the resolution in the lower right corner. You also can use the on-screen menus to remove all data from the screen.
The Coolpix S9500's Playback mode includes an Index feature, which allows you to see multiple images on the screen at the same time. With a single image on the screen, move the zoom ring to the left, and you'll see various grids of thumbnail images, including 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, and 8x9. If you press the zoom ring to the left on the 8x9 grid, you'll see a graphical calendar through which you can choose to see all images shot on a particular date. To return to grids with fewer thumbnail images, press the zoom ring back to the right.
There's a Zoom function included with the S9500's Playback mode, too. With a single image displayed on the screen, press the zoom ring to the right, and you can magnify the image. A blue box will appear in the lower right corner that represents the full image, while the white box inside the blue box signifies the current view versus the overall image. You can select a magnification up to 10x, and you can choose to crop out the current view into a new file using the menu button.
You can playback movies stored on the memory card using the Coolpix S9500's LCD screen through the Playback mode. With a movie on the screen, you'll see the time and date the movie was shot in the upper left corner, as well as the movie's resolution and recording time in the lower right corner. You also can remove all of the data from the screen using the on-screen menus. Press the OK button to play a movie.
