In addition to seven other models announced for 2011, Nikon's COOLPIX S6100 offers the highest level of resolution seen in a Coolpix model (as of 2/2011). The 16-Megapixel image sensor is paired with a 7x optical zoom using NIKKOR ED glass to cover a wide range of photographic needs, and the S6100 also comes equipped with a 3-inch 460K dot touchscreen. In addition to stills, the S6100 shoots 720p video.

The camera has an ISO sensitivity range of 80-3200 and uses Nikon's EXPEED C2 digital image processing. The S6100 also comes with automatic scene selection as well as red-eye fix, face tracking, Smile Mode, Blink Warning and Skin Softening features. You can also use a new Pet Portrait mode to capture the perfect face from your cat or dog.
