The 7x optical NIKKOR ED zoom lens on the CoolPix S6100 has a 35mm equivalent of 28-196mm. It is made up of 9 elements in 7 groups and has a maximum aperture of f/3.7. To help steady your handheld images, the camera also features lens shift VR, which helps ensure crisp images, even in lower-light situations. When the camera is powered down, the lens folds up into the camera body for protection
Focus Range:
The small, built-in TTL flash unit has a range of up to approx. 14ft. (W) at ISO auto. Below the flash, you can see the focus assist lamp.

Macro: 1.2in. to infinity
On the back there are only three buttons, two of which control the camera's operation mode (Shooting and Playback modes). The other button is a dedicated video recording button, that allows you to record HD videos no matter what your shooting mode.
On the right hand side of the camera are the I/O (Input/Output) ports. At the top is the USB 2.0 port that allows you to connect it to either a computer or a standard definition TV. On the bottom is the HDMI output for connecting to HDTV sets.
Powering the S6100 is a 3.7V, 1050mAh rechargeable Li-Ion battery. This battery is capable of capturing up to 210 images on a single charge (CIPA). Also shown is the USB charging power supply that allows you to charge the battery inside the camera.
