Nikon Coolpix S1100pj Preview

Building off the success of their first "projector" model, Nikon has introduced the Coolpix S1100pj. This is an ultra-compact, 14-megapixel digicam that boasts some very typical features for a camera in this class. These include 720p HD video recording, a nice large 3.0-inch LCD screen, and a 5x optical zoom lens. However, the S1100pj has one option that no other manufacturer offers, a built-in 14-lumen internal projector for sharing photos and video with friends and family.

Nikon claims that the projector unit in the S1100pj is 40% brighter than the unit offered on its predecessor, which allows you to project a 47-inch picture up to 7 feet away.

The Coolpix S1100pj will become available next month (September, 2010) for $349.95 US, and will be offered in four colors: Silver, Green, Black, and Violet.
