Nikon Coolpix S02 Preview
Nikon has announced a fun and innovative "mini camera", the Coolpix S02, that is so small, Nikon claims you can fit two of them in one pocket. Despite its size and sub-$200 cost, the S02 comes with some higher end features, including a 13.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor capable of 1080p HD video recording as well as an easy to navigate 2.7-inch touchscreen LCD display.
Aimed at young folks who are digital camera newbies, the S02 boasts a number of automatic and creative features to ensure, or enhance, quality images. First Scene Auto Selector mode chooses between a number of presets -- portrait, landscape, night portrait, night landscape, close-up, and backlighting -- to be fit into your shooting conditions. There's also Hand-held Night Scene Mode for extra-low lighting scenarios and Backlit Scene HDR (High Dynamic Range) to better color in situations where there are very bright AND very dark lightning conditions. Finally, Special Effects like mirror, sepia, high contrast monochrome, high key, and low key can spice up just about any shot.
